In a promotional video featuring Wasim Akram, the ICC celebrates “White jackets” as eight teams go “All On The Line.”
Next month, the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy will return after an eight-year break since its last iteration in 2017.
As eight countries compete in this important competition, the ICC honors the legendary “white jackets” and asks spectators to join the adventure in a new promotional video that stars Pakistan cricket veteran Wasim Akram.
The event will take place over 19 days, from February 19 to March 9, and will include 15 exciting matches. For the first round, the eight participating teams will be split into two groups, each of which will play three group games. Each group’s top two teams will move on to the semifinals.
The ICC emphasizes how important each match is and how high-stakes the competition is. Teams compete for the renowned white jacket, a representation of supreme greatness and tenacity, in addition to the coveted Champions Trophy.
As a badge of pride for cricketers who attain greatness, the jacket symbolizes a champion’s unwavering quest for perfection.
In the promotional video, Wasim Akram, whose career spanned three decades, highlights the jacket’s significance by characterizing it as a representation of the path to triumph.
“The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy represents the best of the best,” Akram says.
“To win the jacket means risking everything for fame and fortune. Because each game will be a high-pressure contest with little time for recuperation, the strongest team will win this championship.
The world cricket community is getting excited about the Champions Trophy’s return as teams get ready to compete in the sport’s most prestigious and competitive event.
