This milestone came up after Babar Azam’s 41-runs inning in the final T20I encounter against Australia in Hobart

Babar Azam, the former white-ball captain of Pakistan, has now surpassed Virat Kohli of India to take the second-highest rank on the list of all-time top run scorers in men’s Twenty20 international cricket.

Following Babar Azam’s 41-run performance in the final Twenty20 International match against Australia in Hobart, this accomplishment was made.

With 4,192 runs currently, the 30-year-old has surpassed Kohli’s 4,188-run total. Babar is only 40 runs away from surpassing Rohit Sharma’s record of 4,231 runs, which still holds him at the top.

Along with Mohammad Rizwan, who has amassed 3329 runs in the shorter format, the right-hander is now one of just two Pakistani batters in the Top 10 of T20I run scorers.

Pakistan’s problems were captured in the final Twenty20 International. The squad chose to bat and was dismissed for a pitiful 117 in 18.1 overs. At a strike rate of 146.42, Babar Azam stood out with a valiant 41 runs off 28 balls, including four boundaries. Haseebullah Khan made a rapid 24 off 19 balls.

Aaron Hardie took three wickets, while Adam Zampa and Spencer Johnson each took two as Australia’s bowlers dominated.

Australia responded by chasing the target in just 11.2 overs, driven by Marcus Stoinis’s explosive 61 off 27 balls, which included five sixes and five boundaries during his knock. Josh Inglis, the captain, contributed 27 runs. Despite taking one wicket apiece, Shaheen Afridi, Jahandad Khan, and Abbas Afridi were unable to stop the devastating defeat.

Pakistan was bowled out for 134 after chasing 148 in the second match of the T20I series, falling 14 runs short of the target. In a rain-affected series opener, Australia successfully defended just 94 runs, reducing Pakistan to 64/9.
