The International Cricket Council (ICC) has been officially notified by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of its decision to forego the hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The PCB has reaffirmed its position that Pakistan will not share hosting rights with any other nation ahead of Friday’s meeting of the ICC Board of Directors.
According to reports, the PCB has pushed the ICC to resolve the hosting problem in a practical way prior to the conference. They said that doing so would enable better planning and facilitate decision-making.
“We are steadfast in our stance: Pakistan would not consent to a hosting agreement in which another nation is involved. According to reports, the PCB notified the ICC, “It is unacceptable for the Pakistani team to travel to India to play matches while the Indian team refuses to come to Pakistan.”
The Champions Trophy is scheduled for February–March 2025, however the tournament’s format is unclear because India has refused to send a team to Pakistan. The PCB has insisted on holding the event in Pakistan as scheduled and has consistently rejected the notion of a hybrid model.
The PCB has made it clear that any decision must preserve equity and justice, but the ICC Board meeting is anticipated to examine these issues and consider potential solutions.
