Islamabad United gained two points from this victory and is now leading the PSL 10-point table.

In the tenth game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 at the National Bank Stadium on Sunday, defending champions Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by a commanding six wickets, extending their winning streak.

United easily reached the total with 17 balls remaining and just four wickets lost, chasing a moderate target of 129 runs.

Sahibzada Farhan and Azam Khan, Islamabad’s opening duo, provided the squad a solid start by scoring 34 runs. Before being removed by Hasan Ali, Farhan appeared to be in excellent form, scoring 30 runs from just 18 balls, including five fours and a six. Colin Munro too fell cheaply, scoring only four runs off four balls in the same over. United was reduced to 38/2 in 4.5 overs by these rapid wickets.

Azam Khan and captain Shadab Khan then took over to calm the innings. The pair effectively managed the pressure and put United back in charge with a strong 65-run partnership. Azam was dismissed by Mohammad Nabi in the fourteenth over after playing a solid knock, scoring 31 off 30 balls with three fours and a six.

Shadab Khan, who was in the lead, struck five boundaries and two sixes in a vital innings of 47 off 40 balls. Sadly, Abbas Afridi bowled him with one run still to win, preventing him from reaching a half-century. Then, on the first ball of the 18th over, Mohammad Nawaz completed the task and was still in at 8 runs.

With two wickets for 28 runs, Hasan Ali was the Karachi Kings’ most effective bowler. Abbas Afridi and Nabi each took one wicket.

Earlier, the Karachi Kings had a bad start at bat, losing the in-form James Vince for four runs in the first four overs and captain David Warner for just three. They were already in trouble with just 22 runs scored.

With a 39-run partnership, Saad Baig and Tim Seifert attempted to salvage the innings, but the United bowlers wouldn’t let them rest. Baig fell to Shadab Khan after scoring 20 off 17 balls. Imad Wasim dismissed Seifert after he labored throughout his knock and only got 30 off 37 balls with one boundary.

At regular intervals, the Kings continued to lose wickets. Khushdil Shah (17 off 23), Aamir Jamal (7), and Muhammad Irfan Khan (5) all fell easily. With a quick short ball, Jason Holder, who is still at the top of the PSL 10 wicket-takers record, took out Jamal.

With a blistering 24 off just 9 balls, one four, and three sixes, Abbas Afridi gave Karachi a late flourish, bringing the Kings to 128/7 in their 20 overs.

Imad Wasim grabbed one wicket for Islamabad United, while Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, and Jason Holder each claimed two.
