Despite a great start, Karachi Kings finished their innings at 137-8 after chasing a target of 143 runs against Quetta Gladiators in PSL 10.

At the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, the Quetta Gladiators defeated the Karachi Kings by a slim margin of five runs to record their second victory of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

Despite a great start, Karachi Kings finished their innings at 137-8 after chasing a target of 143 runs. In the last overs, Quetta’s bowlers maintained composure to secure an exciting victory.

When Mohammad Amir removed captain David Warner for just 4 runs in the first over, Karachi’s chase got off to a precarious start. But Tim Seifert and James Vince soon took charge, combining bold stroke play to form a strong 73-run stand for the second wicket.

When Quetta captain Saud Shakeel broke the stand by dismissing Vince for 30 off 29 balls, the tide turned. Despite continuing to play his shots and hitting a quick 47 off of 26 balls, Seifert was shortly removed by Mohammad Wasim Jr.

Under strain, Karachi’s middle order fell apart. Khurram Shahzad dismissed Shan Masood for nine off seventeen deliveries after he labored once more. Khushdil Shah was then dismissed for a duck by Abrar Ahmed’s strike, and Amir dismissed Mohammad Nabi after he had only scored four.

Wasim Jr. came back to take Omair Bin Yousuf’s wicket for eleven after Khurram Shahzad struck once more to dismiss Abbas Afridi for a duck. Karachi lost by five runs despite a late comeback from Hasan Ali, who scored an unbeaten 24 off 13 balls.

The Quetta Gladiators had a difficult start at bat earlier. At the end of the powerplay, they were 45-4 after losing their top-order to Hasan Ali early on and having Mark Chapman eliminated by Mohammad Nabi.

Before being removed by Abbas Afridi, Kusal Mendis attempted to stabilize the innings with a fast 36 off 22 balls, hitting five boundaries. Together with Hassan Nawaz for the fifth wicket, Mendis had contributed 25 runs.

Later, Nawaz formed an important 59-run partnership with Faheem Ashraf. Faheem made a crucial late-innings knock, scoring 43 off 27 deliveries, while Nawaz hit 35 off 34. With wicketkeeper Tim Seifert helping to run out Khurram Shahzad, Hasan Ali ultimately bowled Quetta out for 142 in 19.3 overs.

With three wickets, Hasan Ali was the outstanding bowler for the Karachi Kings. Mohammad Nabi and Fawad Ali each grabbed one wicket, while Abbas Afridi and Mir Hamza both took two.
