Early in January, Saim Ayub fractured his right ankle while fielding in the second Test match between South Africa and Pakistan. He had to miss the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 because of the injury, which kept him out for ten weeks. The incident happened in the seventh over of South Africa’s opening innings when Saim tried to field a ball hit by Ryan Rickelton.
