Latest Update:

Today, ahead of the tenth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Saim Ayub, the opening batsman for Pakistan, has returned to Lahore following a successful recuperation in London.

Participation in PSL 10:

To find out if he will be available for the forthcoming PSL season, the left-handed batter is set to take a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Injury Background:

Early in January, Saim Ayub fractured his right ankle while fielding in the second Test match between South Africa and Pakistan. He had to miss the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 because of the injury, which kept him out for ten weeks. The incident happened in the seventh over of South Africa’s opening innings when Saim tried to field a ball hit by Ryan Rickelton. As Aamer Jamal attempted to stop the ball from reaching the boundary, he rushed in to play the role of relay fielder.

Unfortunately, Saim stumbled backward after losing his equilibrium. He was obviously in a lot of pain, and despite the medical staff’s best efforts, he was unable to stand and had to be helped off the field.

Now that his recuperation is complete, Saim is almost ready to play competitive cricket again. Positive reports from the UK medical team give hope that he will soon be able to resume his activities.

Saim will travel to Karachi to celebrate Eid with his family following his fitness test at NCA Lahore. He might return for his PSL team, Peshawar Zalmi, if he gets cleared.
