Djokovic defeats Macháč to go to the fourth round of the Australian Open, where he will play Lehecka; Alcaraz advances as well.

At the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic demonstrated his continued supremacy by defeating Czech 26th seed Tomáš Macháč 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

The victory highlights Djokovic’s record as a ten-time Melbourne champion and his 17th participation in the tournament’s fourth round.

The Serbian maestro maintained his composure in the face of physical difficulties, including breathing problems that necessitated medical care during the second set. Throughout the two hours and twenty-two minutes of his clinical performance, Djokovic controlled play from the baseline and took advantage of Macháč’s thirty-five unforced errors.

“It wasn’t easy at the start, but I managed to find my rhythm and get into the match,” said Djokovic, who is currently 97-9 at the Australian Open, in reference to his ability to adapt during a match. As the contest went on, I felt better physically,” he added.

With this triumph, Djokovic advances in his pursuit of a record-tying 25th Grand Slam and his 11th Australian Open championship. He is now getting ready to play Jiří Lehečka, another Czech, who defeated Benjamin Bonzi 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 to advance.

Alcaraz Advances with Eye on History

The third seed in the competition, Carlos Alcaraz, defeated Nuno Borges 6-2, 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2 earlier in the day to go to the fourth round. The 21-year-old Spaniard wants to finish the career Grand Slam as the youngest person ever.

Despite a slip-up in the third set, Alcaraz’s explosive tennis enthralled spectators. A no-look victory in the fourth set stood out as a highlight of his movement and diverse shot selection, which garnered praise.

In a more humorous moment, Alcaraz disclosed that he would get a kangaroo tattoo to commemorate a possible Australian Open victory, adding to his collection honoring previous Grand Slam triumphs.

“The only thing missing is to lift the trophy here, but that’s the plan if it happens,” he said.

Melbourne’s hard courts promise more drama in the upcoming rounds as Djokovic looks to reach yet another milestone while Alcaraz strives for history.
