The Pakistani side is reportedly assembling a well-rounded roster consisting of three spinners, four fast bowlers, seven batsmen, and a wicketkeeper.

Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan’s seasoned left-handed batsman, is anticipated to return to the national team for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The competition will be staged jointly by the UAE and Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.

A well-rounded lineup including seven batsmen, four fast bowlers, three spinners, and a wicketkeeper is reportedly being prepared by the Pakistani team. The defending champions’ only wicketkeeper is probably going to be Mohammad Rizwan.

As long as he satisfies the fitness standards specified in his main contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Fakhar, who has played in 82 ODIs for Pakistan, will continue to be an important player.

Despite missing recent tours to South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Australia, the left-hander has recovered in the Champions T20 competition. At an average of 30.30, he amassed 303 runs in 10 games, including two half-centuries.

Fakhar discussed a previous dispute with a tweet endorsing Babar Azam in a recent interview. He explained that people mistook his tweet for a critique of the PCB’s choice to rest the star batter.

I later came to the conclusion that it would have been preferable if I hadn’t sent the tweet. However, people thought I disagreed with the board’s decision, which is completely incorrect,” Fakhar clarified.

He added that journalists and former cricket players who advocated for Babar Azam’s removal from the team were the target of the post. Fakhar added that he had asked the PCB for a two-month leave of absence because of health concerns.

If chosen, Fakhar’s comeback might improve Pakistan’s roster as they look to win the Champions Trophy again.
