Four cricketing greats, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Muhammad, and Saeed Anwar, will be inducted into the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) esteemed Hall of Fame in 2024.
These legends cement their place in Pakistani cricket history by joining the likes of legendary players like Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Javed Miandad, and Younis Khan.
Former players Wasim Akram, Zaheer Abbas, and Azhar Ali, as well as a few cricket experts, participated in an impartial and open voting procedure to select the four players.
Later this year, these cricket players will be formally inducted into the Hall of Fame, where they will be presented with plaques and commemorative caps.
Considered one of Pakistan’s best batsmen, Inzamam-ul-Haq played for the nation from 1991 until 2007. With 11,701 runs, he leads Pakistan in ODI scoring and was a vital part of the 1992 World Cup-winning squad.
Looking back on his career, he remarked, “Being recognized by the PCB is truly special, and I hope this initiative continues to inspire current and future generations of cricketers.” “Our ardent supporters have treasured every run and every victory, adding significance to every accomplishment.”
Pakistan’s most successful Test captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, helped the side win the 2009 ICC T20 World Cup and topped the ICC Test rankings in 2016.
Misbah thanked his teammates and supporters, saying, “This recognition by the PCB serves as the perfect crowning achievement of my journey.”
One of the most important players in Pakistan’s early cricket history was Mushtaq Mohammad, who made his debut at the age of 15. He participated in the first-ever ICC Cricket World Cup in 1975 and led Pakistan to their first-ever Test victory in Australia in 1977.
“It was thrilling and fulfilling to be a part of Pakistan cricket’s early years,” Mushtaq remarked.
One of Pakistan’s best opening batsman, Saeed Anwar, was renowned for his match-winning exploits and graceful stroke play.
Looking back on his journey, Anwar remarked, “This honor fills me with pride, and I’m grateful to my teammates and the passionate fans.”
