Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam added an unwanted record to his name during his team’s opening match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 against Quetta Gladiators at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

Experienced pacer Mohammad Amir dismissed Babar for a duck in the opening over, his eighth duck in PSL history. With this, he surpasses Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi, who has seven ducks, and ties former Zalmi wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal.

Islamabad United all-rounder Imad Wasim now holds the record for the most ducks in PSL history, followed by Wahab Riaz, a former pacer for Peshawar Zalmi.

 

At the Pindi Cricket Stadium, the Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 80 runs to begin their PSL 10 campaign in a commanding manner.

Quetta, who batted first, scored an incredible 216 runs. On his debut, Finn Allen hammered 53 off 25 and Saud Shakeel, the captain, added 59. Hasan Nawaz scored 41, and Kusal Mendis (35*) and Rilee Rossouw (21*) gave Quetta a late surge that helped them finish strongly.

After skipper Babar Azam was caught off guard by Mohammad Amir, Zalmi’s chase came to an abrupt end. Despite Saim Ayub’s valiant half-century, wickets continued to fall all around him.

With four wickets, Abrar Ahmed was the standout player with the ball. Kyle Jamieson provided one, and Usman Tariq took two. In 15.1 overs, Zalmi was knocked out for 136.

Quetta gained two points and rose to the top of the PSL 10 standings with this significant victory.
