The 2025 Champions Trophy will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Dubai under a hybrid model sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Following weeks of negotiations and a final agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the decision was made.

The new plan will divide games between Pakistan and Dubai, guaranteeing all teams’ participation while resolving logistical and security issues brought up by certain boards.

The PCB and BCCI have also come to an agreement on the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is another noteworthy decision. Pakistan’s encounter against their bitter rivals in the league stage would not take place in India. The well-known match will instead take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Although the PCB will not be compensated financially for the changes, they have been granted the right to host an ICC Women’s tournament after 2027. For Pakistani cricket, this is a big milestone as the nation hopes to host more international competitions in the future.

All parties involved are satisfied with the compromise reflected in the agreement. The result, which takes into account political sensitivities while maintaining cricket’s prominence, seems to satisfy the ICC, PCB, and BCCI.

“This has transpired precisely as we had expected for more than a month,” said Indian journalist Vikrant Gupta, who has been closely monitoring the events. With this settlement, the PCB, ICC, and BCCI will all be satisfied.

The competition is set to take place between February 19 and March 9, 2025. The title was won by the reigning champions, Pakistan, in the 2017 tournament.
