After an incredible career in the national colors, Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim has formally announced his retirement from international cricket. The decision was taken just nine months after he first announced his retirement in November 2023 and then revoked that pronouncement in March 2024.
In what would be his final international encounter, Imad played his final game for Pakistan at the T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States against Ireland. He put on an outstanding display, capturing three wickets and giving up only eight runs in his four overs. Fans were dismayed when Pakistan’s campaign ended too soon, despite his valiant efforts.
Imad played in three matches during the T20 World Cup 2024 and took three wickets at an average of 14.66 with a remarkable economy rate of 4. In two innings, he scored 19 runs with the bat.
Imad played for Pakistan in 75 T20I matches during his career, amassing 554 runs with a strike rate of 130.04 and an average of 15.82. He got 73 wickets at an economy rate of 6.20 at an average of 21.75, demonstrating his exceptional bowling ability.
Imad participated in 55 ODI matches and scored 986 runs, including five half-centuries, at an incredible average of 42.86. His reputation as a reliable all-rounder was further cemented when he took 44 wickets at an economy rate of 4.88.
