According to sources, India’s failure to reply to Pakistan’s request caused the meeting to be postponed.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) “rejected the formula” put forth by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), according to sources who spoke to Geo News, forcing the postponement of a crucial meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) that was supposed to take place t Wednesday to discuss hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.

According to the sources, India’s lack of response to Pakistan’s suggested resolution to the issue caused the conference to be postponed. The new date of the meeting is December 7.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Dubai this morning with great expectations for the important meeting, which was supposed to debate the tournament’s future. The tournament is slated to take place in Pakistan in February and March of 2025.

The sources added that the deadlock remains unresolved because the BCCI has also rejected the PCB’s solutions.

Following this, the PCB sources gave the ICC a concise answer, stating that India’s position should be made clear before the meeting is held and only when a final decision is required.

It is important to note that the BCCI’s unwillingness to send a team to Pakistan has put the Champions Trophy at a halt, and the PCB has not wavered in its opposition to the hybrid model  for the eight-team competition.

To break the impasse between PCB and BCCI, a new model known as the “partnership formula” is being considered in the most recent development.

Pakistan would also not be able to play in India during ICC events for the next three years, according to the revised formula. According to the anticipated new deal, Dubai is most likely to serve as the neutral location for both sides.

During this span, India will host three ICC events: the Champions Trophy in 2027, the Women’s World Cup in 2025, and the T20 World Cup in 2026, which it will co-host with Sri Lanka.

According to additional information, the BCCI has been encouraged by the apex cricket body to adopt the aforementioned methodology in an effort to prevent Pakistan from taking legal action and to settle the dispute without a vote.

The apex cricketing authority will notify the board members of any developments if the suggested formula is accepted by both parties, perhaps eliminating the need for a board meeting.
