If Pakistan wins, they will level the series, setting up a decider in Perth on Sunday
Pakistan will try to recover and save the series in Friday’s second match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval after losing out on an exciting victory in the first ODI.
In the first ODI, Pakistan’s bowlers, led by fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, put up a valiant fight to defend a small total of 203. The Australian hitters were spooked by their aggressive, short-pitched deliveries, but Pakistan ultimately lost. In spite of the loss, the team is committed to winning the second game.
“We were close in the first match, and we learned a lot from that loss,” Pakistan captain Muhammad Rizwan stated. “The tactics worked well, but we will need to adjust our strategy at Adelaide Oval with its shorter boundaries compared to the MCG.”
Pakistan knows they need to adopt a more disciplined strategy against a strong Australian batting lineup, even though their quick bowlers were crucial in frustrating Australia’s batters. Pakistan needs to bowl steadily to maintain the series because of Australia’s aggressive style.
Pakistan will depend on important players like Babar Azam, who was in form in the first ODI with a strong 37 runs before being removed by Adam Zampa, in an attempt to reverse the momentum. Babar, who is renowned for his prowess in One-Day Internationals, will be looking to build on his strong record at the Adelaide Oval, where he stunned Australia in 2017 with an outstanding century.
In contrast, Australia wants to win the second game to win the series. With important players like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Steven Smith displaying excellent form in the opening ODI, the side is confident. Smith’s 44 runs in the last game allayed worries about his form, and Starc has been in outstanding form this season. But Marnus Labuschagne, who had a rough opening game, will be hoping to improve.
Josh Hazlewood, who takes Sean Abbott’s spot in the team, will bolster Australia’s bowling outfit. Prior to the forthcoming Test series against India, Hazlewood will want to leave his mark.
