Sam Billings reflects on his impressive HBL PSL form while talking about the IPL’s domination over other competitions.

Sam Billings of Lahore Qalandars, who has participated in three IPL seasons, recently shared his thoughts on the increasing rivalry between the IPL and the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).

When asked to compare the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Sam Billings, a veteran of three IPL seasons, didn’t hold back.

The Lahore Qalandars wicketkeeper-batsman recently said bluntly during a press conference, “You want me to say something silly? The Indian Premier League is clearly the world’s top league, with all other competitions trailing closely behind.

Currently playing in the HBL PSL, Billings continued by mentioning other leagues’ attempts to imitate the IPL’s supremacy, including the Big Bash League (BBL) and England’s T20 Blast.

He went on to emphasize the league’s standing on the global scene by saying, “In England (T20 Blast and The Hundred), we are trying to do the same like PSL as the second best competition in the world,”

Billings made these remarks a few days before playing for the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, where he recovered well from a duck in the first game. He helped the Qalandars win by smashing an undefeated fifty off just 19 balls against the Quetta Gladiators.

With half-centuries from Fakhar Zaman and Daryl Mitchell, Lahore recorded an overwhelming 201/6 in their most recent match. Billings, who entered the game in the final overs, made rapid runs, scoring 19 off 10 balls.

This effort helped Lahore defeat Karachi Kings by 65 runs after Shaheen Afridi’s explosive bowling caused Karachi to crumble early.

After losing to Islamabad United in their first game, the Qalandars’ performance represented their second straight victory. Looking ahead, Lahore will play the Multan Sultans on April 22 in their next match.

Despite acknowledging the IPL’s dominance, Billings respected the PSL’s development, especially given his outstanding achievements in the most recent season.

His remarks demonstrate how fiercely these international T20 leagues are competing, and it’s evident that Billings sees promising things for the Pakistan-based league’s future given its growing prominence.
