Despite having an average year with the bat, former top-ranked T20I batsman Babar still managed to amass 738 runs in 24 games.

One of the four nominees for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Award is Babar Azam, the great batsman for Pakistan. The other candidates were Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe, Travis Head of Australia, and Arshdeep Singh of India. The announcement was made on Sunday.  

Despite having an average year with the bat, former top-ranked T20I batsman Babar still scored 738 runs in 24 games. His runs, which included six half-centuries, averaged 33.54. Additionally, he demonstrated his consistency by hitting almost 100 boundaries.

In the three-match series against Ireland, Babar had one of his best outings, smashing 75 runs off 42 balls. He maintained a remarkable strike rate of 178.57 with five sixes and six fours. Additionally, his overall strike rate improved this year, reaching 133.21.  

Arshdeep Singh of India had an outstanding season with the ball, claiming 36 wickets at an average of 13.5 in 18 games. In pivotal games, such as the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, where his death bowling helped India win the title of champion.

Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe was nominated for the award for the third time in a row. With a highest score of 133 not out during Zimbabwe’s undefeated run in the T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, he amassed 573 runs in 24 games. With his best statistics of 5/18, Raza took 24 wickets, demonstrating his skill with the ball as well.

Travis Head of Australia demonstrated his value with 539 runs at an average of 38.5 in 15 games after finally obtaining a regular position in the T20I team. His strike rate of 178.47, the second-best for an Australian batter in a calendar year, was aided by his highest score of 80.
