We know you’re all eagerly waiting to watch every match of PSL Season 2025, but before that, the PSL draft held in Lahore was literally a tug of war among all the franchises.
In Lahore, the eagerly anticipated player draft for the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) tenth season has come to an official close. The teams for the forthcoming season, which is set for April and May of this year, were finalized by the six franchises.
The PSL 10 Player Draft was nothing short of exciting, bringing together a fantastic mix of international players and local rising stars. Lahore Qalandars snapped up the talented Daryl Mitchell to strengthen their squad, while Karachi Kings went with Australian star David Warner.
Quetta Gladiators added depth with Mark Chapman and made a smart move by grabbing Faheem Ashraf as a wild card pick. On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi retained Tom Kohler-Cadmore by using their Right To Match card, and Islamabad United picked Mathew Short, a player to watch this season.
Here is what Babar Azam has to say about Peshawar Zalmi’s picks in this season.
Moving to the Diamond and Gold categories, teams brought in some serious firepower. Karachi Kings picked Khushdil Shah to ensure they have a player that can hit sixes, but we are not sure if Khushdil Shah really can perform on this stage, and Islamabad United added Jason Holder, a player that still needs to prove himself as a utility for the team. Multan Sultans strengthened their bowling attack with Mohammad Hasnain, while Peshawar Zalmi brought in the young and energetic Abdul Samad as a wild card. The emerging and supplementary picks added even more flavor—Karachi Kings chose Kane Williamson, and Quetta Gladiators added experience with Shoaib Malik.
And let’s not forget Asif Ali, who treats hitting sixes like a casual warm-up—racking up 150 of them in a single day. He goes with Lahore Qalandar this season.
