“Tamim is feeling better now. “He spoke with his family members and took a quick stroll at the hospital,” adds Islam, a club official.

Cricket officials said AFP on Tuesday that Tamim Iqbal, the former captain of Bangladesh, has recovered and was chatting with family members following a severe heart attack during a domestic tournament.

After experiencing excruciating chest discomfort on Monday, the 36-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital while guiding Mohammedan Sporting Club in a 50-over Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match.

“He’s feeling better now. “He spoke with his relatives and took a quick stroll at the hospital,” club official Tariqul Islam stated.

According to Mohammedan physiotherapist Enamul Haque, Tamim’s condition was stable and he will probably soon be moved to another hospital.

“We had to go to hospital quickly to save his life, and luckily we did that,” Enamul told the AFP news agency.

Razeeb Hasan, the medical director at the hospital where Tamim was treated, told reporters on Monday that Tamim was in serious condition when he was taken to the hospital.

He added that in order to remove an artery blockage, Tamim needed surgery to insert stents.

When the cricket community learned of Tamim’s health situation, they flooded in to offer their support.

“Please pray that my brother Tamim recovers quickly and returns to the game!” posted Shakib Al Hasan, a longtime teammate, on social media.

Shakib’s 38th birthday fell on the same day as Tamim’s heart attack, but the all-rounder said the news prevented him from enjoying the event.

Yuvraj Singh, an Indian cricketer, also shared his “prayers and wishes”

“You’ve defeated formidable opponents in the past, and this time won’t be any different. I hope you get well soon. Yuvraj posted on social media, “Remain resilient.”

Between 2007 and 2023, Tamim played 391 games for Bangladesh in all forms and served as their one-day captain.

The only person from Bangladesh to score hundreds in all three international forms, he amassed over 15,000 runs.
